A good way to get real value from Glide, across a wide range of issues, is via a "Consultant to the Board" role. Consultant to the Board means that your Glide consultant attends all Board meetings, receives all reports and minutes and participates fully in all Board deliberations, but does so in an advisory capacity and has no vote. Sometimes Glide consultants are appointed non-executive directors of a client company. This enables the company to maximise the value it gets from Glide, but it doesn't always suit. Directors are legally bound to be across all areas of the company, especially financial, while the company may wish to focus Glide's time on particular areas. Director's insurance is usually required for non shareholder positions and this can be quite expensive. And appointing a new Director may alter or be perceived to alter power balances within a board in unintended ways. We're happy to discuss these and other ways of higher-level involvement,. What we can say, from experience, is that the more we know about a company and the longer we work with them, the greater the value we can contribute. Most of our client relationships are long term. |
